Error Identifier: generics.deprecatedEnumBound

Every error reported by PHPStan has an error identifier. Here’s a list of all error identifiers. In PHPStan Pro you can see the error identifier next to each error and filter errors by their identifiers.

Code example #

<?php declare(strict_types = 1);

/** @deprecated Use NewStatus instead */
enum OldStatus
{
	case Active;
	case Inactive;
}

/**
 * @template T of OldStatus
 */
class StatusHandler
{
}

Why is it reported? #

The @template tag uses a deprecated enum as its bound constraint (T of OldStatus). The enum OldStatus is marked as @deprecated, meaning it should no longer be used and may be removed in a future version.

This rule is provided by the phpstan-deprecation-rules extension.

How to fix it #

Replace the deprecated enum with its recommended replacement:

 /**
- * @template T of OldStatus
+ * @template T of NewStatus
  */
 class StatusHandler
 {
 }

How to ignore this error #

You can use the identifier generics.deprecatedEnumBound to ignore this error using a comment:

// @phpstan-ignore generics.deprecatedEnumBound
codeThatProducesTheError();

You can also use only the identifier key to ignore all errors of the same type in your configuration file in the ignoreErrors parameter:

parameters:
	ignoreErrors:
		-
			identifier: generics.deprecatedEnumBound
