Error Identifier: class.nameCase

Every error reported by PHPStan has an error identifier. Here’s a list of all error identifiers. In PHPStan Pro you can see the error identifier next to each error and filter errors by their identifiers.

class MyClass

$obj = new myclass(); // reported: Class MyClass referenced with incorrect case: myclass.

Why is it reported? #

Although PHP class names are case-insensitive at runtime, referencing a class with incorrect letter casing is considered poor practice. It reduces code readability, can cause confusion, and may lead to issues with autoloaders on case-sensitive file systems (such as Linux). PHPStan reports this to encourage consistent and correct casing.

How to fix it #

Use the exact casing as declared in the class definition.

-$obj = new myclass();
+$obj = new MyClass();

How to ignore this error #

You can use the identifier class.nameCase to ignore this error using a comment:

// @phpstan-ignore class.nameCase
codeThatProducesTheError();

You can also use only the identifier key to ignore all errors of the same type in your configuration file in the ignoreErrors parameter:

parameters:
	ignoreErrors:
		-
			identifier: class.nameCase
